The Powell River Parks, Recreation & Culture department strives to enhance the quality of life for all citizens through the facilitation of recreation services, providing and maintaining parks and green space, and supporting the arts and culture in a positive, healthy, and equitable manner. Programs
Registration opens December 1st for our winter programs. Choose from a variety of health & fitness, aquatics, arena, and general recreation programs that being in January. Hurry and reserve your spot today before the classes sell out.

  *Please note that in an effort to improve our customer service, our online registration process has changed.  If you have registered online for a program since February 2017, you will need to create a new account to register online for Winter programs. Please follow the instructions as provided. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Drop in Schedules

The City of Powell River provides a variety of drop in programs throughout the year at the Recreation Complex. Single drop-in admission rates* apply and no reservations are required. Space is available on a first come first serve basis so show up early to get your spot. Download a copy of the latest schedule to view what’s happening.

Powell River Recreation Complex
 
At the heart of this community is the Powell River Recreation Complex which features two NHL sized ice surfaces, a large aquatic centre, fitness centre & studio, the 720 seat Evergreen Theatre, and several meeting rooms that can accommodate your needs. Adjacent to the Complex is the state of the art Powell River Bike and Skateboard Park, a 1.5km multi-use paved pathway and numerous hiking and biking trails that spread throughout Millennium Park.

HOURS OF OPERATION (September 1 - June 30)

  • 6:00am - 9:30pm - Monday - Thursday
  • 6:00am - 9:00pm - Fridays
  • 8am - 8:30pm Saturdays & Sundays
  • 10am-4pm - Statutory Holidays

Parks & Playing Fields


 

Our City has many parks ad playing fields available for use from community recreation to organized sport and competitions. We also have an exclusive off leash dog park in Westview! Whether you are a soccer player, a baseball player or involved in track and field, we can accommodate a variety of sports and outdoor recreational activities.

Recreation Financial Access Program - Revised November 2017
The City of Powell River has recently revamped is Recreation Financial Access Program. This program provides access to the Powell River Recreation Complex for families in financial need that live within the Powell River region. Eligible participants will receive 52 free admissions to the Powell River Recreation Complex each year.  

Who is Eligible?
Residents of the Powell River region who either:
A) - Receive Income Assistance through the Employment & Assistance Act or;
B) - Receive Income Assistance through the Employment & Assistance Act for Persons with Disability Act of BC; or C) - Whose combined gross household income is below the Stats Canada Low Income thresholds for 2017.

How Do I Apply? If you are eligible under either point "A" or "B" above, applications must be completed in person through the Ministry of Social Development and Social innovation located at 6944 Alberni Street, Powell River. Once verified, bring the from to the Recreation Complex for to receive your pass.  If you are eligible under point "C", you must complete one application form per household and drop it off to the Recreation Office Coordinator at the Powell River Recreation Complex, 5001 Joyce Ave, Powell River. 

Please ensure that you bring the following documentation with you:

- Current proof of residency, such as a utility bill or rental agreement
- Proof of your gross annual household income, in the form of the current years Notice of Assessment from      Revenue Canada.
